Wiki Markup

Just an FYI, HTML is pretty much never used unless in templates (there are exceptions, like <nowiki>). If you need to use HTML it's time to start thinking of a template. If you don't know aything about templates, that's fine.

Stuff like using ==Section== or ===Sub Section=== instead of the HTML tags. Don't use a single equals, as that is for the page header.

Also, sign off edits to the talk page using --~~~~

Also, I've created a {{clear}} template which will ensure the next section starts on a new block (useful with images). Look at Bodvar for how to use it.

Legend Image Alignment

Do we want to have the legends' images left or right aligned? Basically, do we want one of those info boxes that many other wiki's have on the left hand side?

It would look like this, but assuming we add more text I think that looks good. It would also let us create a nicer looking box in the future (with icons and stuff). What do you think? --Pluckerpluck (talk) 13:31, 24 April 2015 (EDT)

Well, i think it should be made right side but since we are lacking text for now, its better to have it on left side. At least thats my opinion --MarceA7X (talk) 18:09, 24 April 2015 (EDT)MarceA7X
Yeah, no need to change it right now. I'll make a slight change so that it's easy to change later. --Pluckerpluck (talk) 18:42, 24 April 2015 (EDT)

We'll make a point of rendering anything people need. Just shoot us an email at [email protected] --Tyveris (talk) 02:04, 27 April 2015 (EDT)

Hey guys, is it possible to upload gifs and use them?. I would like to make a more "in-depth" guide about the terminology page, with the explanation of every attack and a little gif showing it with each weapon and unarmed. What do you guys think?

--MarceA7X (talk) 12:47, 26 April 2015 (EDT)

You definitely can upload gifs into wiki. At some point I'd love to move this info over onto the weapon pages, but I'd need to ask first
I also think it would be a great idea to get more gifs, they're so informative. --Pluckerpluck (talk) 13:27, 26 April 2015 (EDT)

Unfortunately, they are pretty huge. Makes the page load slowly and might crush our bandwidth. Let's hold off on doing more for now. --Tyveris (talk) 10:28, 30 April 2015 (EDT)

Ok. Thats why i asked for the opption to dont appear unless someone wants to. There is an option to make a gif start in "pause" and load it when the user click it. But again no idea how to make that. Should i remove gnash gifs?

What if we put a still frame on the character page and linked to a dedicated move page that had frame timing information and the gif there. It means someone who wants to see the whole move can see it, but the main page can be a bit simpler and less animated? --Tyveris (talk) 11:37, 30 April 2015 (EDT)

It could work out! You know any page? anyway im gonna make a research and see what i can find out. (Personal opinion)Its a shame because i really liked the gifs with the attacks on the character page, but you are right, people with slow pc's or slow internet connection could have a bad time loading the page. --MarceA7X (talk) 12:16, 30 April 2015 (EDT)

Hey, i tryed what you said and applied it to Taunt's page. Check it out and let me know what you think. That is what you proposed, right? OH! By the way please delete all gnash gifs, i have no idea how to delete an upload, i dont even know if i have the admission to do it haha. --MarceA7X (talk) 13:46, 1 May 2015 (EDT)

CSS Styling

Hey everyone. I'm curious to thoughts on what we can do for the overall CSS styling of the Wiki to make it feel a little more modern and unique to Brawlhalla.

As far as I know you need admin privileges to make changes to the CSS.

Fonts: At a minimum I'd like to see the font size increase up to 12-14px. Sans-Serif I think is solid for Brawlhalla unless we're interested in installing a custom Google Font into the site (Which I would be willing to do given admin privleges) Link Colors: It would also provide some basic styling if we changed the Link colors to a slightly different blue based on the Brawlhalla color palette. I don't know if BMG has an official color palette for the game, but it would help in making the site feel more Brawlhalla-ish

I don't want to go crazy with overboard background images or a lot of the other annoying things I see on game wikis, but some basic styling would help the overall look and feel quite a bit. --Raidhyn (talk) 11:04, 29 April 2015 (EDT)

Site Wide Navigation

Also not sure HOW to do this but I think it needs to be done.

Main Pages in the side bar and top line navigation should be at least

- Legends - Realms - Patch Notes - Categories

Other ideas are welcome, but we need something to help point people to main areas besides the list on the front page.--Raidhyn (talk) 11:06, 29 April 2015 (EDT)

I'm making gifs with signatures. But i have a little doubt right now, should we add all of them (i mean including the ones who dont have unique signatures and later when they do, update it) or we should just put the uniques one?

Also i think we should have an option to hide something until click it (something like a spoiler). What im trying to say is, people read "Bodvar neutral sword" + . When they click that "+" the gif should reveal. I think its possible to do, but no idea how.

Ok, i just add all gnash signatures. IF you guys like it i can do all the rest, i have all signatures in a gif already, but not gonna do it if you guys dont like it, so i could apreciate some opinions.

Legends gone missing

So... I'm just wondering what's happened to a few of the legends like Gnash or Lord_Vraxx. They error out with "The revision #0 of the page named "Gnash" does not exist." --Pluckerpluck (talk) 12:25, 4 May 2015 (EDT)

Thats weird. I really dont know, maybe they deleted it accidently while they removed all the bots who were filling the wiki with spam? I dont know, i have been kinda dissappear from wiki waiting for the answer on the gifs :P

--MarceA7X (talk) 14:02, 4 May 2015 (EDT)

Yeah, I'll take a look at it. We had to do some aggressive fixing due to bot spam. It's very possible some links got wrecked. --Tyveris (talk) 21:30, 4 May 2015 (EDT)

They should be fixed now. Let me know if you see any other oddities. I had to do a lot of nuking to get rid of the bots. We seem to be spam protected now.

My recent home page edits being called out as trolling and reverted [20 Sept 2015]

There was a misunderstanding, with someone suspecting that I was a troll, and the recent edits I made to the home page were reverted.

Home page:

Yes, lots of pages aren't created yet. The reason for that is this wiki currently has no license, so it's unclear what content we can draw on from other wikis--not as a blatent copy/paste thing, but to save time so we can focus on other stuff, rather than reinventing the wheel. (Like a code repository, but instead a creative commons / public domain repository--standard practice with wiki editing.)

I figured it's okay to use the template I drew on from the Rising Thunder wiki since it's just a template (some headings and tables), and I actually created it. Though I wanted to (A) hold off a bit before drawing on too much else, and (B) I only have limited time to edit pages per day (home page, and recent character template edits I made--see my contribution history--took hours).

Dan reverted the edits; I don't know if that's the person who made the post on reddit or not. Anyway, person on reddit is incorrect; I'm no troll.

As such, I undid the home page revert.

What would be great is if the wiki tables could get some CSS applied to them, so they look better and are easier to read. Currently the tables are very hard to read, unlike tables on other wikis. But I can add that to the to do list, once I create it.

So, I was looking around to see if we could have a poll on the wiki and I found this: , more in general this: I think it's something that only BMG can do? If not, then I just have to download and install, right? --KerisTerim (talk) 12:36, 17 February 2016 (EST)

I think this is better: --KerisTerim (talk) 12:41, 17 February 2016 (EST)

Community colors

Can we contact BMG for them to give CC codes for people who support wikia?

I wouldn't. People who've contributed big time to the Brawlhalla wiki, for the most part, already have CC's. Contribute more and enough and you'll probably get one. Make contributing your priority though, and not getting a CC. We welcome all the help we can get, but if you're just here to try to get a CC, maybe try the devstreams instead - those are more reliable and consistent anyways. --Machiavelli33 (talk) 17:13, 24 January 2017 (EST)
