Hattori, do you remember the tale of the wise fox spirit and her giant magical hammer? Yeah, ME NEITHER! – Koji after a beat down from a newcomer to the Grand Tournament
Any Valkyrie could see that the blind seamstress was a centuries old fox spirit in disguise. Only the half-Valkyrie saw a great Valhallan.
From time immemorial the Japanese village of Aoku sat at peace on the edge of the edge of the great northern forest. Then the forest changed. The winters grew bitter, and the cold seemed to flow out of the forest itself. From the forest too came great wolves - first in ones and twos and then in great packs. The forest came to be called Kiba, The Fang, and the villagers feared.
To villagers, Yumiko, the blind seamstress, was a happy soul - afraid of dogs, and roused to anger only by shoddy needlework. None ever knew that, at the age of 537, she picked up a bow for the first time and went to war with the monsters of the Kiba.
The first winter, she rescued a toddler from wandering wolf[sic], the second winter she slew a pack of wolves to protect the hibernating Tororu. Year after year, the assault grew, and so did her skill. By the twenty-fifth year, she had defeated a Tengu army, slain a dragon, and realized she must confront this mystery at its source.
Weary but determined, she traveled deep into the woods. There she fought the witch Ukionna and broke the bond between Yumiko's world and the twisted forest corrupting her land. In the final moments of the battle, a valkyrie appeared. Without a word, Yumiko leapt on the flying horse and went happily to sleep.
Yumiko is happy to fight in the tournament, while she senses that she has one more great deed to accomplish, but waits patiently. Yumiko recoils at the sight of Mordex, tinkers with Scarlet in her workshop, and has a quiet bond with the enigmatic Asuri.
Let me tell you the tale of the blind seamstress and the thousand wolves. – Yumiko
The wise Yumiko's appearance reflects her origins in Japanese culture: she wears a white uwagi - a short jacket - with the sleeves tied tightly back up over her shoulders, a pink underlayer and a short pink obi sash around the waist. A large jade netsuke button secures the sash in place at it's top, and bears a leaf-like symbol, which also embellishes her white, pink-accented trousers and her white, silver-accented forearm sleeves. She wears thong sandals with no socks. Her hair is stark platinum white and cut rough and short, with unkempt bangs that continually hang over one eye. Peeking out from under the bangs can be seen twin pink streaks on her cheeks. She keeps her eyes closed - though in the rare moment when she opens them, they are visibly pale, gray and blind.
|Neutral||Yumiko transforms into a bolt of ghostly energy and flies diagonally upwards for a long range attack that finishes with a small explosion. Any enemies caught in the fire while its travelling are pulled along to be sent flying with the final burst.||Not the greatest anti-air because of its small hitbox and low angle, but it can be used to maneuver around the stage, possibly confusing the opponent. This attack has poor follow-up potential, but doubles as a recovery move because of how far it goes. Do keep in mind that Yumiko’s hurtbox is larger than the ghostly energy ball.|
|Once again, Yumiko transforms into a bolt of ghostly energy – but this time, she starts slighty slower and flies straight forward along the ground. In a similar fashion, the attack ends with a small explosion that sends enemies flying.||27.06 (max)||A powerful long-ranged attack that can help you chase the opponent or get away from him in a pinch. Unlike the Neutral Signature, this one is much easier to follow up with another attack. Still, always remember that Yumiko’s hurtbox is still larger than the energy ball -- any long-ranged attack can easily break this move.|
|↓||With a mischievous smile, Yumiko reveals her many tails and leaps backwards, peppering the ground before her with orbs of ghostly energy that linger for a short moment. If an enemy touches one of these snares, the foxfire will stun and push the foe closer to Yumiko for a convenient beatdown.||4.30 (×2) +
|A fight starter rather than a fight finisher, this attack features lingering hitboxes. On its own, this attack cannot KO at all and has next to no force; however, anyone caught in the foxfire will be dragged into a very convenient position for Yumiko to start a combo. Even better, this attack can do wonders when gravity-cancelled for ledge guarding. Do keep in mind that the attack begins to hurt only when all three balls have been placed. The orbs will disappear faster if Yumiko is hit -- even a thrown weapon is enough for that!|
|Neutral||In a graceful show of her inhuman skill, Yumiko reveals her tails before jumping into the air, swinging the hammer in a double somersault. Anyone struck with the first hit is grappled and subsequently thrown downward after the second spin.||This attack has short range, but good width and force. Even better, it’s a spike that sends enemies flying downward -- just like Asuri’s Katar Neutral Signature.|
|Yumiko readies the hammer behind her back, then dashes a fair distance forward and swings both the hammer and tails around her with a wide sweep. Hits enemies both in front and behind her.||Has a resemblance to Cassidy's Hammer SSig or Bodvar’s Sword DSig. However, Yumiko only spins the hammer once, travels a fair distance before hitting, and hits enemies before and behind her. A skilled Yumiko player can position the attack so that the enemy is kicked backwards rather than forwards in order to confuse the opponent or KO a damaged foe who is trying to guard the ledge.|
|↓||Yumiko reveals one of her tails and swings it in an arc in front of her, leaving balls of ghostly foxfire that linger in the air ahead of the kitsune in a shield-like formation. Anyone scorched by the ghostly energy is stunned and dragged towards her for an impending beatdown.||A great defensive move, since it features lingering hitboxes, much like its Bow counterpart. Especially useful for countering head-on aerial approaches or making the enemy waste the dodge. Again, the ghostly energy will begin to hurt only when all three ghostly energy balls are in their places. Remember that the attack cannot KO on its own, and the energy balls will disappear faster if Yumiko is hit with anything.|

- Yumiko's bot name is Robomiko.
- Yumiko's weapons are named Kami Bow (bow) and the Talisman (hammer)
- It is implied in several places that Yumiko is blind. If this is true, it would make Yumiko the first disabled Legend on the roster.
- Yumiko is the third Japanese themed legend on the roster, after Hattori and Koji.
- Her design is strongly reminiscent of Kon, also a fox spirit from manga and anime series Tokyo Ravens.
- Yumiko's name is directly comprised of the words Yumi, Japanese for Bow, and 'Ko', Japanese for Child. Her name can therefore be 'Yumiko', 'Bow Child' or even '弓子'.
